Dear [insert name of retailer or brand here],
I recently tested the packaging of [insert name of product here] for PFAS using the olive oil bead test. This result indicated that there might be PFAS present in this food packaging.
PFAS are also known as ‘Forever Chemicals’, and we know very little about the health and environmental toxicity of the vast majority of this huge group. What we do know is that the ones that have been studied in depth are toxic. We know they can cause harm to both humans and wildlife, and we know that once they get into our environment, there is virtually no way we can get rid of them.
There are alternative, non-toxic materials, similar to PFAS, that can also impart oil and water repellency. I urge you to interrogate your supply chain to find where these PFAS may be and take steps to eliminate them from your products.
Could you please let me know if there is PFAS in this food packaging?
Many thanks,
XXXX
